The World Series of Poker money piled high and you are probably wondering what in the world does this have to do with the PBR? A good question to ask.

Well they don’t have much in common except that I worked my butt off after PBR and pulled a favor or two to get THIS close to the money without the right badge… The stair guard was a bit more careful tonight than the other night.

And my camera phone is set to send the pics here than the Internet.  So until I change that.  Here is a look at more money than most people will see in their lifetime.

Oh, and the fact that the winner here and the winner at the PBR both said the same thing.  It’s not about the money… They are here for the jewelery. It’s the Bling…  The money is secondary…  Check it out “what the winners want”

Cada beat Moon in about three hours of real poker playing… It was amazing.

Tonight is shaping up to be an action packed night.  For it is the night of the “rank pen”.  Meaning these are the bulls who have come to play and play hard.  The ones who are famous for not keeping a rider on their back for very long. Usually under 5 seconds.

Just look at some of the names and statistics:  White Magic has a career total of 5 rides out of 36 attempts.  Fan favorite Troubadour is sitting at 9 out of 24 and Chicken on a Chain, who has Larry the Cable Guy as one of his owners, he is 13 out of 45.  Not good numbers for a rider to see.  However, the ones who DO make it on for a full eight seconds, the bull rewards them with some very high scores. Usually near 90.   And that’s almost perfect.

With half the score being from the bull’s performance and half from the rider…  we are expecting some rides with high scores as well as a lot of no rides.

Here you have our Minnesota reporter trying out the Ford Raptor simulator @ PBR Fanzone.

The FanZone is a separate free area, being staged in the Mandalay Bay convention center parking lot.  A place for the sponsors and vendors to show off their goods and mingle with the fans.  Dozens of vendors, sponsors and a lot of other neat stuff.  Including autograph sessions with many of the riders.

Being that Ford is a major sponsor to the PBR, this is where they show off whats new and whats coming out.  This year they had a simulator trailer.  You could race NASCAR against your buddies or you could take the new Ford Raptor out for a spin in the Baja races.  Your crew chief was the man running the controls and giving you a lot of pointers along the way.

The Ford Raptor is an amazing vehicle that will be out in early in limited quantities.  It’s wider and beefier than the F150.  Has a pretty cool styling package and by the looks of it in the simulator, can kick pretty good ass on rough terrain!

This simulator Rocks… Sazzy needs to get her butt down here and try it out!

Almost time for the first round to begin. The crowds are starting to filter in and the energy is starting to fill the air. And there is energy in the air… This is an event many of us wait for all year for very good reason. This is a true sport and one that is very,very addictive.  Just ask one of the many new fans every year.  Watch it once live and many will say they are hooked.

To watch a sport where it is man against beast and both are athletes in their own way. So sitting here at the World Finals, where these are the very best of both Man and Bull, just creates its own form of energy and anticipation. Each has earned the right to be here. It was not given to them, sposored in or won by lottery.  It was earned.

Than you have the ever sense of danger in the air. Each time the chutes open, there is a high degree of danger, possible injury and even death. Yet they all do it with great pride. At the beginning of each event, there is a time for prayer and a time for the National Anthem.

Trust me when I say EVERYONE participates in prayer and the anthem. Men DO remove cover (hats) and everyone who can, will bow their heads for prayer or meditation. You watch the cowboys do it, and you know they are really doing it. Unlike the beginning of other professional sports, it’s not an act or they are “just going through the paces for the camera”… It’s real and its felt by everyone in the arena.

So here we are, ready for that first set of fireworks to kick it all off….
